tactical urbanism 2023
What if tactical urbanism transformed our suburban spaces?
Envisioning safer, more playful, and healthier kindergarten commutes using digitally enhanced visual storytelling
This ongoing initiative explores how tools from urban studies and visual storytelling can be used to reimagine everyday suburban spaces, particularly the surroundings of schools and kindergartens, to promote safer and healthier habits from a young age.
While tactical urbanism is often seen and deployed in more dense urban areas, this project reflects on how similar low-cost, human-centered interventions might be adapted to suburban contexts to encourage walkability, playful exploration, and more inclusive mobility.
My contribution focused on the development of digital visualizations, including photorealistic montages and composited mockups, to support the narrative of the project and spark discussion around alternative futures.
This project is led by Juliana Carvalho and it has received support in the form of a Virtual Mobility Grant in 2024 from the Transformers COST Action – Transformations International Experience and Research Network for Sustainable Futures [Action CA22156]. https://www.cost-transformers.eu/
